The Super Bowl isn’t only about selling: Its expensive ad time frequently goes to a crusade against something or another. Most often that “something” has been cigarettes; “or another” was drugs.
The results have sometimes been powerful. In the fight against smoking, for example, American Legacy Foundation’s Truth campaign and Arnold Worldwide delivered the guerilla-video “Ratman” to the 2002 game:

The brand is pushing the new flavored versions with a series of 15-second spots in which Diet Coke’s new endorsers make cheeky observations about the varieties. In one spot, Soni describes the “feisty cherry” flavor as “not the kind of cherry you bring home to your mom.”
The other ads star actors Hayley Magnus, Ryan Goldsher and Daniel Stewart. (See all the spots below.) The director is by Paul Feig, known for the TV series “Freak and Geeks,” as well as movies including “Bridesmaids” and the 2016 “Ghostbusters” remake.

There’s no actual dialogue in the video, just a lot of haunting imagery – of women and men being abused, of the barren Colonies, of a pissed-off June (a.k.a. Offred) looking ready to burn it all down.
All of it is set to a creepy slowed-down of Buffalo Springfield, because apparently not even Gilead is immune to that particular trailer trend.

The set-up was that both were guests of Mika Brzezinski (Kate McKinnon) and Joe Scarborough (Alex Moffat) on a spoof of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” as part of the “SNL” cold open. In the segment, Armisen’s Wolff reveals a thing he left out of “Fire and Fury” (spoiler: Oval Office baby races!) while Murray’s Bannon talks about what’s next for him (spoiler: he’s working on a new line of wrinkled barn jackets called Frumpers for Guys, plus a skincare line called Blotch).

America loves a comebackor at least L’Oral Paris is betting it does in an ad from McCann breaking on Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards on NBC. Winona Ryder, the “Stranger Things” star who’s one of the biggest turnaround stories of recent Hollywood history, has been enlisted to pitch Elvive hair-care products, which are all about helping damaged hair, and a faltering brand, stage a comeback.
The ad breaks Sunday on the Golden Globe Awards on NBC, where Ryder was nominated last year for best actress in a TV series for her role in the Netflix series, 23 years after her last Golden Globe honor: best supporting actress in 1994 for “The Age of Innocence.” Between those points came career and life turbulence that included a 2003 shoplifting arrest at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills.
Damaged goods no more, Ryder is shown in the ad with flowing locks preparing for a stage appearance. “Everyone loves a comeback,” the ad notes. “Damaged hair deserves one too.” The ad is directed by Roman Coppola, son of Francis Ford Coppola, whose “Godfather III” film Ryder famously bailed out of during filming in 1992.

President Donald Trump said Friday the U.S. Postal Service should charge Amazon.com Inc. more to deliver packages, the latest in a series of public criticisms of the online retailer and one that sent the company’s stock lower in pre-market trading.
The post office “should be charging MUCH MORE” for package delivery, the president tweeted from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where he’s been spending the holidays.
“Why is the United States Post Office, which is losing many billions of dollars a year, while charging Amazon and others so little to deliver their packages, making Amazon richer and the Post Office dumber and poorer?” Trump told his 45 million followers.
