A&E Resumes Filming 'Duck Dynasty' After Star's Anti-Gay Remarks
A&E Networks said Friday it will resume filming “Duck Dynasty” this spring with the entire cast, including Phil Robertson, who caused a firestorm following anti-gay remarks in a GQ story.
The cable programmer said it consulted with advocacy groups and decided it will use the backlash as a teachable moment, launching a national public service campaign across its entire portfolio of networks promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people.
A&E initially suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” clan, after he made graphic statements about homosexuality and his “Bible-thumping” beliefs. The comments have been condemned by organizations such as GLAAD.

McDonald’s Mighty Wings didn’t meet sales expectations, but how far short did they fall?
About 10 million pounds. For the September launch of the product, the chain bought 50 million pounds of chicken wings for the limited-time item, according to the Wall Street Journal. But 20% of that inventory remains, largely because the item didn’t sell well.
Mighty Wings failed to fly mainly because they were too spicy and too pricey. The wings were sold in packs of three, five or 10 wings starting at $2.99, indicating a discount may be on the horizon to clear out all of that surplus inventory.

Martin Agency President Mike Hughes Passes Away
At the beginning of this year, Mr. Hughes stepped away from his agency duties — his doctors had given him two weeks to live. But he “rejected that prognosis in favor of his own timetable,” said The Martin Agency Chairman John Adams in a statement. Indeed, Mr. Hughes remained full of life and vigor till the end, over the last 12 months posting his thoughts about life, death and everything else on not just one, but two blogs, Unfinished Thinking and Unfinished Thinking II. On the former, Mr. Hughes even made his final post –posthumuously, in an autobiographical obituary.
Over the last year, although Mr. Hughes was in hospice, agency staffers said that he remained committed to the job, stopping by or meeting with the team at his apartment behind the office and lobbying for awards and accolades for the shop.

Olympics, Mobile Drive Three New Ad Forecasts, but Europe Stays a Concern
Three new ad spending forecasts released Sunday night are pegging ad growth next year partly on the Winter Olympics, the World Cup and the mid-term elections in the U.S., but forecasters continued to regard Western Europe with caution.
WPP’s GroupM revised its worldwide advertising spending forecast for 2014 downward to 4.6% from 5.1%, its prediction earlier this year, citing “economic gridlock in the U.S. and a persistent financial crisis in the Eurozone.” The media agency network is now forecasting an increase in global spending from $508 billion in 2013 to $531 billion in 2014.
In Western Europe, the group is projecting a 1% decrease in spending in 2013 and, tentatively, an end to declines next year. “We predict Western Europe advertising will return to modest 2% growth in 2014, but this depends on stability being restored to the troubled Eurozone periphery,” the GroupM report said.
