We’re always stunned by the amazing things people can do with instruments, and this cool keyboard player is no exception.

In less than three minutes, Seth Everman manages to play Toto’s hit song “Africa” in 11 genres, using 11 different beats and sounds in his keyboard. The genres range anywhere from “Latin” to “90s pop” to our personal favorite “I’m scared,” which features a bunch of spooky ghost sounds. The Ethics of Using AI in Advertising

Category : General · No Comments Jun 26th, 2017

As an industry, advertising has long been obsessed with understanding human behavior. The ability of artificial intelligence (AI) systems to transform vast amounts of complex, ambiguous information into insight is driving personal analysis into market behavior. There are nearly 2 billion Facebook users globally. About 200 billion tweets are shared on Twitter every year. Google processes 40,000+ searches every second. We can now assess the entirety of an individual’s social activity: every word, every picture, every emoji.

Add to that location-based data from mobile phones, transactional data from credit cards and adjacent data sets like news and weather. When machine learning and advanced algorithms are applied to these oceans of digital information, we can intimately understand the motivations of almost every consumer.

These are undeniably powerful tools, and no one can blame the advertising industry for rapidly adopting them.

Recommendation: Take a food-themed road trip this summer

Category : General · No Comments Jun 18th, 2017

A summer vacation doesn’t need to cost you a month’s salary, but you’d be forgiven for thinking that it should. Between May and August, Instagram becomes a minefield of people you don’t know sitting poolside at The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs or whatever. Suddenly, your Brooklyn staycation seems lacking.

I know that nothing is what it appears on social media. It is possible to know this at your core and, at the same time, wish you were also lounging on an expensive pool float shaped like a hot dog.

Today in “things we really wish didn’t need to happen,” Democratic Representative Mike Quigley has introduced the Covfefe Act.

No, we’re not kidding.

Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, blocked millions of its overseas users from posting pictures or video yesterday, on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square.

The ban over the weekend was simply announced as a “systems update,” but people noticed that local users were also not able to change their profile information, nor post photos or videos in comments.

In a World Where Everything is Digital, the Word Loses Meaning

Category : General · No Comments Jun 5th, 2017

Think bragging about your digital chops will still give you an edge in years to come? Think again.

A new Global Digital Outlook Study released by digital-agency society SoDA and Forrester found that more than three-quarters of client-side marketers and agency leaders believe the term “digital” will disappear within five years as a meaningful differentiator.

The report included responses from 90 client-side marketing and tech leaders and 126 agency executives, primarily from mid-sized digital agencies. Some of them think the term is already dunzo: Just over half (54%) of client-side marketers said the term digital is still a meaningful way to differentiate agencies and marketing activities related to technology while 27% of agency leaders feel the term has lost relevance.
