At last year’s first Health Lions awards, there was no Grand Prix for the pharma category, and U.S. agencies trailed their international counterparts in wins. FCB Health CCO Rich Levy blamed it on the regulatory hurdles faced by health advertising.
But the jury for the Health Lions, which preceded the world’s largest and most prestigious advertising awards show, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, wasn’t moved by the blame game or some of the work, regardless of which region it came from. A clear message was sent to every agency exec hoping to win big: Be more creative.
Just like that, an award show would inspire more than self-congratulation and networking at the bar. It would potentially inspire the conservative healthcare industry to be better.

Chicago on Monday night beat Tampa 2-0, securing its third title in six years. In so doing, the Hawks capped the tenth most-watched Stanley Cup game since Nielsen began keeping track back in 1966, as NBC’s broadcast averaged 8.01 million total viewers.
Monday night’s finale tucked in under NBC’s presentation of Game 6 of the Chicago-Bruins grudge match, which drew 8.16 million viewers in June 2013. The all-time most-watched NHL game was Game 7 of the epic 1971 Montreal-Chicago series, which scared up 12.4 million viewers on CBS.

Jessica Alba is coming back for year two of Zico’s “Crack Life Open” campaign. At the same time, competing coconut water brand Vita Coco is ditching celebrity ambassadors in favor of simplicity in its first global campaign, “Stupidly Simple.”
The new summer ads come as the coconut water category continues to expand beyond the confines of shelves at Whole Foods and into the mainstream. Both Vita Coco and Zico saw gains in sales in recent years, according to Euromonitor International. Vita Coco sales grew from $320 million in 2013 to $421 million in 2014. Zico sales increased from $86 million in 2013 to $115 million in 2014.
Each brand will boost ad support behind the new ads, according to company representatives. Zico spent a little more than $8 million on measured media in 2014, while Vita Coco spent more than $1 million in 2014, according to Kantar Media.
